Part 1
Part 1
The brief was to create a music video that was innotavated and had narrative, performace and conceptual themes. We were given time to plan our ideas and plan filming time and who we would need e.g actors, permission for using locations and equipment. We were given time to edit all our footage.
Originally I had a rnb artist called Aretha Henry.I used her song to pitch my ideas to the class i really liked the song and I came up with various ideas for the narrative and how it would work well with the song.
http://a2sashglucksmedia.blogspot.com/2010/09/media-pitch.html- This was the pitch i did showing the type of genre style of music video as well as presenting my ideas on narrative locations etc

In the process of researching artist and tr yin to contact her i had problems with getting permission for the song as the artist lived in America and didn't reply to my emails which meant i couldn't use it.
I really liked Ebun's pitch-http://year13mediaebunewedemi.blogspot.com/2010/09/music-video-pitch.html#comments and the genre of music she was thinking about using.our song wasn't from an unsigned artist so we had to contact the record label to ask permission and negotiate agreement on terms of were and when we could use it.http://a2sashglucksmedia.blogspot.com/2010/09/email-screen-shot.html -This was the email we recieved from crazy cousin discussing usage and confirmation that we could use there song.
We were able to get the song and used do you mind by Kyla a funky house artist. We already knew the song and really liked it, the funky house genre is very popular at the moment and we already knew about it and enjoyed the music ourselves.
We also knew from experience the kind of target audience it would attract, teenagers and young adults in the party scenes.we really like Kyla'svoice and the lyrics and song beat worked really good as a lively song to get the audience going.
The funky house genre is known for being used for party atmosphere, clubs etc.We were inspired to choose this music as we both felt that this genre of music was really adaptable in making a music video because of the simplicity of having a prominent beat e.g go video by meleka take it higher, and other funky house videos some are slightly different and been taken in a different direction.

meleka go made us think of the kind of narrative we would want to take the music video down to e.g boy girl love and romance or something different. We also found the video take me higher
The livi frank video showed the performanc elements we liked us to incorperaite performance in our video.
Overall we decided to go for funkyhouse genre and video which included both narrative and performance and followed this through from our planning to our production.
